Free Kindle e-books from Reformation Heritage Books!
Reformation Heritage Books, a solid Reformed Christian publisher, has a whole bunch of its books available for free in Kindle format at Amazon! It seems to be connected to Amazon’s “Prime Days” promotion, so the sale may end today or tomorrow. Almost all the books on sale would be helpful but I thought I’d highlight a few in particular.
(Note that you don’t need to have a Kindle device to use a Kindle book - you can download the Kindle app to your phone or tablet, or use the webapp on your computer. Click the title of each book to get the book from Amazon; just remember to click “Buy For Free” and NOT “Read for Free” in order to add it to your library permanently).
How Should We Develop Biblical Friendship? by Michael Haykin & Joel Beeke (a massive need today, especially among men in the church, by an excellent pair of scholars; Dr. Haykin is a Canadian Baptist historian who’s been very helpful to me personally)
Church History 101 by Sinclair Ferguson, Joel Beeke, & Michael Haykin (a very short and very easy introduction to a very huge and very important subject!)
Christians Get Depressed Too by David Murray (an excellent treatment of a topic frequently misunderstood or even disparaged among Christians, and it’s a book that I’ve seen help several people)
Encouragement: Adrenaline for the Soul by Mark Chanski (this is a ministry that EVERY Christian should be seeking to cultivate!)
Growing Downward: The Path to Christ-Exalting Humility by Nick Thompson (a HUGE need in the church today, especially but not only in the world of social media)
What Happens When We Worship by Jonathan Landry Cruse
There are several titles in RHB’s series of very short, easy-to-read booklets, “Cultivating Biblical Godliness,” available for free; here’s a couple of especially useful ones:
How Can I Serve God At Work? by Ray Pennings (Ray co-founded a Christian think tank in Ottawa called Cardus; I had the privilege of serving with him on a committee in Calgary and he’s a great guy)
How Can I Feel Productive As A Mom? by Esther Engelsma (helpful advice for the toughest of callings)
Is Church Membership Biblical? by Ryan McGraw & Ryan Speck (the practice of meaningful, deliberate church membership has fallen on hard times but is so important for healthy churches)
How Can I Overcome Lust? by Ryan McGraw (especially important in our hyper-sexualized Internet age, and for both men and women)
RHB also publishes a series of short works by the Puritans called “Puritan Treasures for Today.” Often misunderstood and frequently caricatured, the Puritans were godly evangelical pastors and theologians who were passionate about the Bible, and so these little books are really helpful:
The Blessed and Boundless God by George Swinnock
Freedom from Sin’s Dominion by John Owen
Finally, this one may not be for everyone—rather technical and abstract—but it is a very important book for anyone studying theology (especially those aspiring to teach, preach, or lead in the church) as it corrects a lot of popular-but-bad theology. Worth the effort, and definitely at this price:
All That Is In God: Evangelical Theology and the Challenge of Classical Christian Theism, by James Dolezal
